Download the Spelling strategy tutorial as a word file

Click the download link connected to the e-template you wish to download. A dialog box then appears. Click on the save button

 

The file will need to be unzipped. One way to do this is to right click the mouse button on the folder then Open with and then Compressed (zipped) Folders.

 

Locate the unzipped folder and double click on the teach_start file.


Create your resource

This form allows you to add various details including your name and the title of your resource. Once you have done this click on the next button

 

You can now add your ten words and the words within those words. Click save when you are finished. Your words have now been saved.

 

 

If you want to make any changes to your resource then click on the Back button otherwise click on Quit.



IDevice Icon Sound - advanced users only
NOTE FOR ADVANCED USERS AND ONLY SPECIFIC TO THE SPELLING STRATEGY E-TEMPLATE. sound can be added to the Look Cover Write Check element of the resource. To do this you first need to create the individual sounds. Each sound needs to be saved as an mp3 file. Each sound file needs to be given a specific name. For the first word the mp3 file needs to be called word1, the second word file needs to be called word2 etc. These sound files need to be saved in a specific location within the template folder. Double click: files: spelling_10: sounds. Just replace the existing sound files with your new ones.Finally change the Attach sound files box with yes.

View your resource

Your resource is now ready to be used by your students. The file that your students are interested in is learn_start. Double click on this file.

 

First you will see your list of 10 words. Click start to continue.

 

Click on the 'words within a word' button to see which smaller words exist within the larger word. Click 'next' to continue.

 

Once you have completed this section you can continue onto the second activity which is the Look Cover Write Check element. Press the 'Hide' button to hide the word from view. Type in the word and press 'Check' to continue.

The e-template you downloaded is made up of numerous files. Once you have created your resource zip the e-template and upload to your VLE in the usual way. Link to/choose the learn_start file.

*** You can but DO NOT NEED to upload the following files: teach_start, read_me and the txt folder.
